Water and more water

Yesterday we spent a couple hours in the morning getting rid of about an inch of water out of the basement. Fortunatley once the sump pump was turned on it cleared up and continues to clear up. This is the cause of all the water....

Up behind our house is this stream

It only runs for about two weeks in the spring when all the snow melts.

Unfortunately, somewhere there is a direct link from this stream to the basement of our house. If I could find it I'd cap it off and save me the trouble.

But for now I'll just keep using my trusty sump pump.
