This blog is moving

This blog is moving to www.LibertyRanchandCountry.blogspot.com
Unfortunatley someone hacked my email address and Google would not let me change my primary email address. It's not such a bad thing I like the new name better anyway. I'll be posting this on my facebook and informing my friends.

What's going on?

Okay time to catch up again. This winter started out rough but it's been very mild so far. Temperatures today were in the near 40's. I really shouldn't say anything though because I might jinx the whole thing and with my luck we will have one heck of a winter storm next week.

Thursday night Ree Drummond AKA The Pioneer woman came to Salt Lake city for a book signing. Unfortunately I got there too late to hear her speak and the line for the book signing was much too long. I did however get some photos.

It was warmer than usual today so I decided to let the chickens, who have been cooped up in the barn all winter outside.

Happy Chickens outside in the barn breezeway.

This is the front of the barn. I dug this out some weeks back to make it easier to get down to feed the chickens. I enlarged it a little today.

These flat garden shovels word really well in deep snow.

And here are some random pictures I have been taking

I snapped this yesterday and thought it was just darn cute.

It's Maggie giving her famous "who me?" look after she and two other cats tried to break into the large 40 pound cat food bag. (they make cat food bags "cat proof" nowadays)

These were just a couple of random shots I snapped from the truck. I like the light in the first one.

Melting

It rained on Sunday, a lot. And yesterday the snow melted, a lot.

It took very little shoveling to accomplish this, the rest melted.

Same here

Can you tell we use this area as a snowmobile path when there is snow on it?

These two beautiful ladies are enjoying the warm day. No ice in their hooves yeahhh!

Just a random shot of the mountains. I love these kind of shots.

And that's about all that happened yesterday.

I did however manage to get quite a bit of sewing done, Check out the quilting blog and also Cowboy stories.

Shooting Star Ranch

Head on over to cowboy stories to find out what is going on at the shooting star ranch. Will Kade and Kelsey ever be able to get along? and what are Kade and his cousin Matthew up to?

Also check back for some updates to the quilting blog today. I'm having fun making some table runner type stuff.

More pictures

I love sun in the winter, it highlights everything. And I love living in the mountains.

It isn't too clear here but the lake is frozen over.

Another great shot.

Morning sun on the mountains. This is on the canyon road.

Horses and barn.

Which reminds me, I haven't fed the chickens yet. They are probably hungry.

Catching up

Our computer went out on Christmas day so we were without a computer until two days ago so let me catch up.

For Christmas I got a Marlin .22 rifle, I'd been wanting one but didn't think I'd get it for Christmas.

on the 29th of December we had a massive snow storm which turned into a blizzard at the end of the day. I almost couldn't get up to feed the horses next door because the snow was at mid thigh

New years was uneventful and actually I am just glad it's all over. Now I can get back to life.

We have been working on our food storage as of late and finding a lot of great stuff at WINCO.

I have been clearing out the massive amount of snow from last week bit by bit, we can actually get to the back door now.

and last but most interesting one of today's chores was cleaning out the chicken coop. It's been close to a month since I did it last and the only way I got away with waiting that long was that it's the middle of winter. Summer wouldn't work out so well.

This is how you do it:

First get out all the old hay with chicken stuff mixed in. Usually I have a large container I put this in but somebody relocated it so I just put it all in the breezeway.

Second haul the new hay bales up to the barn. I don't have a sled so I just use this old hay hook.

Third cut the bailing twine

The straw will just flake off like this.

And then put it out for the chickens. They love fresh straw.

Life out in the country

Christmas is getting very close and like every year it seems to rush by and then you wonder where it went.
It is foggy this morning and I love getting shots of fog.

Almost looks like spring doesn't it? Here November came in with snow and blizzards and in December everything is melting. I wonder if that means for January and February we are going to get monster snow.

Random shots of the snowy valley we live in

I took some random photos yesterday while driving around. Even though it was a little slushy out I was able to get some nice shots by pointing and shooting.

Catching up (again!)

This is going to be a major catch up post from mid month to now.

First I'll start with some sky/sunrise shots.

Then onto the RMPRA rodeo

And best of all we had company for thanksgiving, all the way from Minnesota.

And next we move on to Christmas. The last three weeks have been just crazy but I'll be posting more. And there is another story in progress that I am thinking about posting on Cowboy stories but am a little hesitant to do it just yet. Should I or shouldn't I?
